Bill Clark began his journey in art pottery on a potter’s wheel in the back of the art room at Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio in 1967. While in San Antonio he had the privilege to assist in the studio of Harding Black, a potter renowned for his beautiful glazes. Bill listened about all things pottery and especially glaze formulations. He went on to study at Newcomb Art School.
After being introduced to George Ohr pottery by David Rago, Bill’s passion was ignited to teach himself the secrets and lost techniques used by George to make the folds and ruffles.
The Clark House Pottery is influenced by the Mission Style, Arts and Crafts movement of the early 1900s. The work is completely original, hand thrown and decorated art pottery. Each piece is carefully made with unique shapes, organic designs and flowing colors to be one of a kind.
