Bill Clark began his journey into art pottery on a potter’s wheel in the back of the art room at Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio in 1967. While in San Antonio, he had the privilege to assist in the studio of Harding Black, a potter renowned for his beautiful glazes. Bill listened about all things pottery and especially glaze formulations. He went on to study at Newcomb Art School.

Bill’s passion to teach himself the secrets and lost techniques to make the folds, twists, and ruffles of George Ohr was ignited after being introduced to George’s work by David Rago (owner of Rago Auctions, expert, and collector of Ohr).

Clark House Pottery is influenced by Mission Style and The Arts and Crafts Movement of the early 1900s. The work is completely original, hand-thrown, and hand-decorated art pottery. Each piece is carefully made with unique shapes, organic designs, and flowing colors to be one of a kind.
